How we use AI
When MealHalo asks a model for help. Last updated September 17, 2026.
Optional
Most of the app is ordinary software. Once in a while you can ask for a portion estimate, a meal-period suggestion, run Auto-fill on the plan, or scan the kitchen for Optimize fixes. If you never ask, we do not send anything to a model.
You decide what sticks
A suggestion is a draft. We store it only if you keep it. Closing without saving drops it. Auto-fill places meals using period guesses for that week; you can still edit the board afterward.
What leaves the app
If you ask, we send the text needed for that request (for example a food name and amount, a dish name, untagged recipe names plus your meal-period labels, or short recipe notes/ingredient lines during Optimize). We do not send your account password or the rest of your kitchen.
A third-party AI service generates the reply under their own terms. We do not train a MealHalo model on your data, because we do not have one.
Guesses
Estimates and period guesses can be wrong. Ignore one that looks off and pick the periods or servings yourself. If the service is down, the request fails and we store nothing extra.
How we handle the rest of the kitchen is in the privacy policy. If this page changes, we will ask you to accept it again.
